Are you looking after or helping to support someone with a long-term illness?
Do you find yourself juggling too many parts of your life and afraid of dropping one?
This is an all-too-common scenario, usually women coping with home life, work life, and someone else’s life. As a woman, we are busy helping others and forget that phrase: put your own mask on before helping others with theirs.
All too often, burnout arrives, and we have forgotten to look after ourselves.
Perhaps this is the gentle nudge you need to remember that putting yourself first is not selfish but often essential. Otherwise, how do you look after others in your life?
What to do, you ask?

Well, it could be as simple as taking a coffee break. Outside is best, but I understand that is not always possible. Taking a short break from what you are doing several times a day helps you and can also give you perspective on what you are doing.
Sharing with a friend – jobs, thoughts- remembering that frequently we are not alone in what we are doing, so asking for help is a good thing.
Sleep is important. So often, we go to bed with too much on our minds. Personally, my “go to” is Tapping.
Tapping on all the stuff that I feel.
The negative stuff.
The jobs I didn’t complete.
The “oh Lord, I have to do that tomorrow” thoughts.
Did I remember to do stuff?
Anything that is rolling around your head like the laundry in a tumble dryer.
Get it all out there. When the brain thinks it has been heard, it doesn’t have to keep churning those thoughts.
My other personal “go to” is Reiki, as it helps calm the whole body and, in the process, boosts the immune system, improves the efficacy of any medication I am taking by relaxing the body, and allows the brain to quieten, thereby aiding restful sleep.
Pillow spray of lavender and chamomile is great.
If any of this resonates with you, if I can be of help, please get in touch.
