Reiki Therapy in London
Reiki, meaning Universal Life Force, works on a physical, emotional and spiritual level to restore our energy balance and promote holistic health.
Reiki Therapy
Reiki therapy flows into the body, reaching the areas that need support, soothing pain and helping the body’s natural repair process. Think of it as charging the body’s energy battery.
Reiki energy techniques can benefit people of all ages, including the elderly, pregnant women, children and babies; it also helps animals of all kinds – Reiki is believed to work on all living beings, even at a distance, and there are no side effects.
Reiki is delivered silently, so even when you can’t express your feelings out loud, you can benefit from a session with us.
The different types of Reiki
There are many distinct types of Reiki, including Angelic, Holy Fire & Tibetan. We blend 2 types Usui and Karuna, when treating a client.
Usui Reiki
Usui Reiki is the original Reiki Energy, the base from which Karuna Reiki has evolved. Mikao Usui developed Reiki in the early 1900s. He derived the term from the Japanese words “Rei” and “ki” which translate as “Universal Life Force”, which refers to the vital energy of all living things.
Reiki is used in hospitals and hospices especially in Oncology wards to complement other health treatments.
Karuna® Reiki
The origin of the word “Karuna” is from Sanskrit. It refers to the universal ideas and meanings that relate to unconditional love, compassion, spiritual evolution, and other related concepts.
Karuna is a way to help yourself and others because we all are one; all interconnected, helping ourselves heal will help us to heal others. Karuna Reiki has been developed from Usui Reiki and must be practised as a continuance of Usui Reiki.
“I started Reiki midway through my treatment for Hodgkins Disease. Straight away it gave me a much needed boost of energy. After each session I felt stronger both emotionally and physically and have noticed how much more positive I feel about my situation.”

FAQs About Usui Reiki
Usui Reiki is a gentle and deeply relaxing healing therapy that originated in Japan in the early 20th century, founded by Mikao Usui. It works with the body's natural energy system, channelling universal life force energy through the practitioner's hands to promote physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Usui Reiki is the original and most widely practised form of Reiki in the world today.
You will begin by having a chat about what you would like to focus on and what you are hoping to get from the session. You will then lie fully clothed on a treatment couch in a calm and peaceful environment while I gently place my hands on or just above specific areas of your body, channelling Reiki energy to wherever it is needed most. Sessions are deeply relaxing and many clients drift into a wonderfully peaceful state during treatment.
A session typically lasts around 60 minutes, which includes our initial chat and time to relax and settle afterwards before you go. This ensures you leave feeling grounded, calm and fully present.
This is very individual and depends on what you are working on. Some people feel a profound shift after just one session, while others find that a course of sessions brings the most benefit. We will always discuss what feels right for you as we go, and I will never recommend more sessions than I feel you genuinely need.
Very little preparation is needed. I would simply suggest wearing comfortable, loose clothing, avoiding a heavy meal beforehand, and drinking plenty of water on the day. Most importantly, just come with an open mind — you do not need to believe in Reiki for it to work!
Everyone's experience is unique, which is one of the wonderful things about Reiki. Some people feel warmth, tingling or a gentle pulsing sensation. Others experience deep relaxation, a sense of floating, or feel emotions rising and releasing. Some people see colours or images. And some simply feel beautifully still and peaceful. Whatever you experience is exactly right for you.
Most people feel deeply relaxed, calm and lighter after a session. Some experience a wonderful clarity and sense of renewed energy, while others feel quietly reflective. It is not unusual to feel a little emotional or tired as your body integrates the healing, so I always recommend being gentle with yourself for the rest of the day and drinking plenty of water.
Yes, Reiki is completely safe for people of all ages. It is non-invasive, gentle and has no side effects. It works beautifully alongside conventional medical treatment and other therapies, and is increasingly being used in hospices, cancer centres and hospitals worldwide.
No. Reiki is a spiritual practice in the sense that it works with energy and the wider universe, but it is not tied to any religion or belief system. People of all faiths and none benefit equally from Reiki. All that is needed is a willingness to receive.

What Happens During a Reiki Therapy Session?
Each Reiki session lasts about an hour. The Reiki practitioner will gently place their hands on different areas of your body. You might feel mild tingling, pins and needles, pleasant warmth or coolness, or perhaps nothing at all.
No special equipment is needed. You can either sit or relax on a couch. There is no need to remove any clothing (only shoes and glasses), as the Reiki touch can pass through everything – even plaster casts!
What Our Clients Say
Lucinda makes Reiki more accessible and practical in it’s use. We all seemed to gain knowledge over and above the Reiki and how to use it, especially on a daily basis, for ourselves and for others.
